CONSULTATION options

GET ABLE offers this service because we acknowledge the expertise of professionals already dealing with some of the issues
and concerns that our individual programs address.  Equally we recognize that in their own context -- the on-going classroom or
rehabilitation program -- those professionals could apply many of the principles we base therapy on.  That is, they could if we explain
why and how to introduce HANDLE elements into their existing program.
Ideally, the educators or therapists requesting GET ABLE consultation will have participated in the introductory course of The
 HANDLE Institute [see link on
resources page, for schedule of courses].  However, consultation will take into consideration prior familiarity with the principles and
practices recommended; and if necessary, staff in-service can supplement the consultation.

 Features, details:

This service is offered to schools and to rehabilitation teams.
Applicable for up to 3 "cases" at a time, identified by teachers or therapists.  Total Practitioner time available:  3 hours.
The individuals -- students/patients -- for whom the Consultation is provided will be observed in the respective context: school or
therapy setting.  The Practitioner will ask for or elicit performance demonstrations as indicated.
Report, written and discussed in person, identifies probable sensory, motor, nutrition, &/or environmental issues; and suggests approaches to begin to resolve the issues.  HANDLE activity instruction will be included specific to client needs, with emphasis on applying the principles of Gentle Enhancemen
t®.

If staff in-service into the HANDLE paradigm seems indicated, that's a supplemental service, not included within the Consultation contract.

 How to get it:

1. Contact GET ABLE with your request, and for contract terms.  We will mail to you (or attach to an email) the prerequisite Intake
Questionnaire -- which asks you for 2 kinds of information: your summary of the concerns that prompt the request, and some
 client-specific performance/functional details.  Tentative date for the service should be established as part of this initial contact;
therefore it's advisable that the request for Consultation include your "best" and "worst" day/time options.  GET ABLE will comply as
 feasible, or indicate alternatives.

 2. Complete the Intake Questionnaire and return it with a 50% deposit, to be received at least 3 days prior to the agreed-upon date of
 the Consultation.

 3. Provide directions to your site, and any related information.
